BIOGRAPHY

Born, bred and fed in Reykjavík, Iceland in the once-upon-a-year 1974, the artist was soon to gain interest in art, music, science/science-fiction, as well as anything to do with mysticism and exploration into the known/unknown... Spending hours upon hours, drawing and listening to music, was ultimately to become day-to-day rhythm in the studio: At first in Cyprus, then in the Netherlands, nearly 8 years in Iceland and now in the misty mountains of Western North Carolina, USA..

Having been thoroughly educated by the finest teachers, spurred on by family and friends; the artist was to mingle his two-fold career with relentless practises in Japanese martial arts, and - of course - family life, having been married in the Netherlands, resulting in the birth of two, lovely daughters.

Now, with both feet firmly set in fresh and fertile soil, creative forces surging from music (mainly hard rock of the extreme kind), art and literature, influences from contemporary masters, Giger, Frank Frazetta, Simon Bisley, Kevin Walker and Paul Bonner, and many others... To classical geniuses of Caravaggio, Raphael, Michelangelo, Goya. Not to forget kinly masters: Erró, Alfređ Flóki, Kjarval and Halldór Pétursson... The list could easily become somewhat overweight; safe to say, the artist is eager and Hellbound to make fast his name, predominantly in the field of Fine Arts!

Look out !!!

ARTIST STATEMENT

I have operated as a Visual Artist for nearly thirty years (mainly in Iceland and The Netherlands) as I have evolved and progressed steadily in my own manner; unbound and unlimited, yet constantly under the influence of ancient tales of gods and men, occult mysticism, music and relative art alongside unconventional comic art, animation and classic Art of the Renaissance period.

The ideology of my art is unquestionably composed of ideas relating to Constructivism; perhaps even "Social Constructivism" as the main emphasis is always on the message or the "story" (informing) as I seek to re-construct reality from the viewpoint of intuition, study and scaffolding, or compiling of knowledge ("Learning by doing") rather than simply copying what is already there. Hence, I dare say that each piece of work is an indicator at the next one although a direct link may be difficult to comprehend at times.

Technique and structure is predominantly aimed at creating a feeling for 3-dimensional space, augmented by graphic placement and monumental composition. Some have termed the outcome as "Fantastic Punk/Rock Comic Art" whereas I constantly push forward and pay little attention to creeds, formulae or styles although my art can be described as quite unique. However, critique is my source of nourishment as I relentlessly challenge myself and improve steadily; each piece becoming - as I see it - a chapter in an unfolding saga without end…

An outcome seems to me as insignificant as it is important, but I always aim to "seduce" the viewer and pull them closer to "read between the lines" and possibly become mesmerized by sheer power, flowing motion and provoking details. The response is usually that of "astonishment" and that is my main purpose at this time; a set goal for the foreseeable future as I aim to expose a new world where space is revealed and revered, as if observed through an open door or a window.

Before immigrating to the United States of America (Western North Carolina to be exact) in late 2020; I had introduced a new and well received form of Art in Iceland: The Blackened series and - by my reckoning and research - a profoundly unique style that I look forward to developing further in coming years, next to my "more conventional" Art. In the end and with so much to do: Let each piece tell its story; that of grandeur and evolution in both physical and metaphysical realms…
